Day-by-Day Itinerary
Days 1–2: Athens — The Cradle of Western Civilization
Welcome to Greece! Athens is chaotic, vibrant, and utterly addictive. Spend two full days diving into its layers of history while enjoying the buzzing modern city life.
Day 1: Arrive, visit the world-class Acropolis Museum, then climb up to the Acropolis itself. Wander through the Ancient Agora in the afternoon. End your day with rooftop drinks overlooking the illuminated Parthenon.
Day 2: National Archaeological Museum (one of the best in Europe), explore the charming Anafiotika neighbourhood (feels like a Cycladic island), Plaka, and finish with sunset from Mount Lycabettus. Pick up your rental car in the evening.
Highlights:- Standing in front of the Parthenon at golden hour
- Juicy souvlaki and cold beer in Psiri
- Magical sunset views from Lycabettus
- 2,500+ years of continuous history
Accommodation: Athens (2 nights) — Hostel €36–60 | Budget hotel €90–140
Day 3: Delphi — Sanctuary of the Oracle
A scenic 2.5-hour drive takes you to Delphi, one of the most important spiritual and political centres of ancient Greece. Perched on the slopes of Mount Parnassus with sweeping views over the olive groves and the Gulf of Corinth, it’s breathtaking.
Walk the Sacred Way, see the Temple of Apollo, Theatre, and Stadium. Don’t miss the museum — the Charioteer of Delphi is worth the visit alone.
Highlights:- Dramatic mountain setting with incredible views
- Temple of Apollo ruins
- The famous Charioteer bronze statue
Overnight: Arachova or Delphi town (€35–60)
Day 4: Meteora — Monasteries Suspended Between Heaven and Earth
One of the most spectacular places in Europe. Giant sandstone rock pillars rise dramatically from the valley floor, topped with medieval monasteries that look like they’re floating in the sky.
Visit the most impressive ones: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, and Roussanou. The views, frescoes, and sheer scale are unforgettable. Watch the sunset paint the rocks golden-orange.
Highlights:- Monasteries perched on sheer rock pillars
- Ancient Byzantine frescoes inside the monasteries
- World-class sunset viewpoints
Overnight: Kastraki (€30–55)
Day 5: Athens → Chania, Crete
Return the car at Athens airport and fly to Chania. You’ll instantly feel the island vibe. Chania’s old Venetian harbour is one of the most beautiful in Greece — colourful buildings, fishing boats, and excellent tavernas.
Highlights:- Stunning Venetian harbour at sunset
- Fresh octopus and raki by the sea
Accommodation: Chania (4 nights) — Hostel €18–28 | Budget hotel €40–65
