Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1–2: Arrival in Ksamil – The Caribbean of the Adriatic
☀️ Morning – Day 1Arrive in Sarandë or Ksamil and transfer to your beach accommodation. Immediately head to the famous white-pebble beaches of Ksamil, where the shallow, impossibly clear turquoise waters rival the Maldives. Swim to the three small islands just offshore or simply relax on the sand with the dramatic mountains as a backdrop.
🌆 Afternoon – Day 1Visit the nearby Butrint National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), one of the most atmospheric archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. Explore layers of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian history including a well-preserved amphitheatre, mosaics, and basilica ruins set beside a peaceful lake.
🌙 EveningEnjoy fresh seafood dinner with views over the Ionian Sea as the sun sets behind the Greek island of Corfu.
Full Day – Day 2Dedicate the full day to beach hopping. Explore hidden coves north and south of Ksamil by car or boat tour. Swim, snorkel, and enjoy the relaxed Riviera atmosphere. Optional visit to the Blue Eye natural spring or a short coastal hike.
Accommodation: Beachfront hotel or villa in Ksamil (€60–140/night).
Day 3: Sarandë & Inland Exploration
☀️ MorningDrive the short distance to lively Sarandë, the main town of the southern coast. Stroll the palm-lined promenade, visit the small archaeology museum, and enjoy coffee with views across to Corfu.
🌆 AfternoonHead inland to explore charming villages and the Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër) — a deep natural spring with vivid blue water that emerges mysteriously from the ground. Continue to the picturesque village of Gjirokastër if time allows (or save for a longer extension) for its UNESCO-listed stone architecture.
🌙 EveningReturn to Sarandë or Ksamil for a relaxed seafood dinner and waterfront walk.
Accommodation: Same base in Ksamil / Sarandë area.
Day 4–5: Himarë & the Dramatic Llogara Pass
☀️ Morning – Day 4Drive north along the stunning coastal road to Himarë, a charming seaside town with a historic castle overlooking turquoise bays. Stop at beautiful beaches like Potami and Livadi along the way.
🌆 AfternoonExplore Himarë’s old town and relax on one of its many secluded coves. The area is famous for its olive groves and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
Full Day – Day 5Drive the spectacular Llogara Pass (1,027m), one of the most scenic mountain roads in the Balkans. Stop at viewpoints for panoramic views over the Ionian Sea and inland mountains. Hike short trails in Llogara National Park, home to ancient pine forests and diverse wildlife. Descend to the stunning beaches of Dhërmi and Palasë for afternoon swimming.
Accommodation: Boutique hotel or guesthouse in Himarë / Dhërmi area (€55–130/night).
Day 6: Coastal Return & Departure
☀️ MorningEnjoy a final swim in the clear waters near Himarë or Dhërmi before driving south back towards Sarandë or continuing to Tirana.
